Travel grants are available for student
and postdocs as well as scientists from disadvantaged nations to attend
ISSX meetings. ISSX recognizes the considerable benefit that scientists
from disadvantaged nations, students, and others can gain from
attending our meetings and is proud to continue the travel grant
program.
Eligible candidates for Travel Grants will be:
- Scientists from disadvantaged nations or students or postdocs
- Members of ISSX (or applying for membership along with submission of their grant application)
Applicants for Travel Grants must also:
- Submit an abstract and present a poster at the meeting
- Provide
evidence in their application of active involvement in or contribution
to ISSX activities (e.g., active recruitment of new members may be an
advantage)
General Funding Guidelines:
ISSX will grant different amounts to
various recipients based on need and other factors. The amount
allocated will be based on reasonable expenses, adjusted if necessary
from estimates provided by applicants. Our goal is to assist
individuals to attend – not to pay all expenses.
We will attempt to
help those who have other sources of funding and need an extra amount to
make their participation possible. Priority is given to applicants
from disadvantaged nations. Grant funds awarded will be based on "reasonable" expenses, adjusted if necessary from estimates provided by applicants. The goal is to spread the pool of total available grant funds to as many applicants as possible. We will try to help those who have other sources and need an extra amount to make their participation in the meeting possible.
After initial notification of funding,
ISSX staff will ask grant recipients to confirm their participation
after being informed of the amount of funding ISSX can offer. Some
individuals may be unable to secure funding from other sources and
therefore may ultimately not be able to attend. Depending upon the
number of confirmations received and funding available, ISSX will
reallocate residual funds to help remaining grant recipients; however,
it is not likely that we will be able to make up the full amounts
requested.
