Membership Committee

The Membership Affairs Committee consists of six members who work to develop appropriate and cost effective programs and procedures for the recruitment of new members, the retention of current members and re-enlistment of lapsed members.  The committee members review the categories of membership for possible revisions and develop criteria for new categories and prepare an annual report of committee activities for presentation to Council and to the Society.  Each member serves a four-year term on the committee, with half the members rotating off every two years.

Specific Charge:  The Membership Affairs Committee selects grant recipients for funding assistance to ISSX meetings, develops a process to identify recent PhD graduates and provide complimentary one-year membership, and develops programs to address employment and recruitment interests of members.  Committee members' follow-up with members who express an interest in participating in ISSX activities referring to the Nominations Committee as appropriate.  It plans forums at meetings to address interests of members, enhance the social interaction and engage the membership in promoting ISSX to colleagues.  The committee members identify and leverage opportunities to enhance the visibility of ISSX internationally, ensure that the members of Council are effectively engaged in strategic initiatives, and develop written policies and guidelines so as to develop institutional memory.
