What are the ISSX Leadership Roles?
ISSX Council
ISSX is governed by the ISSX Council, a group of member-elected scientific leaders in the field representing the three regions of Asia Pacific, Europe,
and North America. The ISSX Council members are elected by the ISSX members and each serve a term of two years.
Awards Committee
This committee consists of six (6) appointed members, plus the President-elect as chairperson. Each appointed member serves a two-year term. The
committee reviews nominations for Society awards, whose presentation will be linked to Society meetings.
Committee on Regulatory Affairs
This committee consists of six (6) appointed members, which includes the chairperson. Each member serves a two-year term on the committee.
A key role of this committee is to recommend symposium, workshop, and/or short course topics and speakers that are relevant to regulatory issues to Meeting Organizing Committees (MOCs).
Continuing Education Committee
This committee consists of six (6) appointed members, which includes the chairperson. Each member serves a two-year term on the committee.
The role of this committee is to recommend, develop, and execute a series of online learning activities of appropriate scientific nature in the form of webinars.
Finance Committee
The ISSX Finance Committee consists of six (6) appointed members plus the President, Treasurer, Treasurer-elect, and Executive Director as
ex-officio members, with the Past Treasurer as chairperson. Each member serves a two-year term. The responsibilities of this committee are to prepare and present an annual budget for action by Council, prepare annually 3-year projections
for the Society budget and dues structure, review and approve budgets of all Society sponsored meetings, and to formulate recommendations to Council for the long term financial planning for the Society.
Focus Groups
The four ISSX Focus Groups, Bioanalysis in ADME Science, Biotransformation Mechanisms and Pathways,
Modeling and Simulation, and Transporters, were first developed in 2016 as an extension of the ISSX Strategic
Plan and are now an active forum for member discussions and educational program development. ISSX Focus Groups are designed to allow you to network with your colleagues while discussing topics relevant to the day.
Membership Affairs Committee
This committee consists of six (6) appointed members, including the chairperson, plus the Newsletter Editor as an ex officio member. Each appointed member serves a two-year term. The Membership Affairs Committee works to develop appropriate and cost effective programs and procedures for the recruitment of new members, the retention of current members and re-enlistment
of lapsed members.
Nominations Committee
The Nomination Committee consists of six (6) elected members, plus the Immediate Past President as chairperson. Three members are elected
on a biennial basis to serve four-year terms and may stand for only one re-election for a second consecutive four-year term. Apart from the Immediate Past President, members may not concurrently hold another elected office in the Society. The
Nomination Committee selects candidates from among regular members who consent to run for election for the positions of Officers, Councilors, and Nomination Committee Members.
New Investigators Group
The New Investigators Group is a group comprised of ISSX members: student members and new investigator members (any member of ISSX within
the first ten years of receiving his or her highest earned degree) who will assume a leading role in ensuring that student and new investigator members of ISSX are receiving the resources they need from the Society to further their careers.
Scientific Affairs Committee
This committee consists of twelve (12) appointed members, including the chairperson, plus the President-elect as an ex-officio member.
Each appointed member serves a two-year term. The Scientific Affairs Committee initiates and plans meetings of the Society, coordinates participation by the Society in other relevant scientific meetings as approved by Council, ensures that a specific
plan for the next five years' regional and international meetings is in place, and develops a general plan for the subsequent five years of meetings.
